GPAC has announced coaching positions for next season. GPAC Technical Director, Ryan Allen, says it was important to have coaching staffs in place well in advance of players hitting the ice in August.
“For the last couple of years we had the goal of June 1 to name our coaches. This allows coaches to get comfortable with their coaching staffs, get seasonal plans in order, practice plans, and, of course, the recruiting aspect plays a part. This leaves a lot of time for coaches to plan and hit the ground running come late August when we hit the ice” says Allen.
The quality of the coaches behind the bench remains high as the organization continues to focus on player development and moving players to the next level. “We have a veteran coaching group and a good mix of younger guys that allow them to contribute and learn at an elite level. We have coaches that have been with us for a number of years so it’s slowly turned into a veteran group both at the head coach and assistant coach positions.”
Allen says he was pleased with the interest level and the number of applicants as the program continues to attract quality coaches, noting that there are 2 more GPAC teams this year with the addition of U13’s squads.
With AHS summer reopening plans in place, Allen is planning on tryouts in August and a full season of hockey action.
