Six-Goal Game

Austin Boyd may never play in the National Hockey League, but when his hockey playing days are over he can compare himself to NHL great Darryl Sittler.

Forty-one years ago last week Sittler scored six goals in one game. On Sunday, Boyd duplicated the feat.

Boyd, 15, got the double-hat trick in the Grande Peace Athletic Club Higson Dental Storm's 9-6 win over Parkland Athletic Club White in a game in Spruce Grove.

The Charles Spencer High School student, who stands 5-foot-7 and weighs 120 pounds, now has 14 goals and eight assists for 22 points and is fourth in scoring on his team.

Boyd scored in bunches of two netting the first and second goals for his team as well as the fifth and sixth and eighth and ninth tallies.

Bowen Grycan, Josh Galla and Dale Horseman also scored for Higson while Shannon Sexton and Logan Sawatzky shared the netminding combining to make 29 saves.

On Saturday, Higson fell 7-5 to the Braves in Beaumont with Galla getting two and Boyd, Brock Robertson and Jett Fogle singles. Sawatzky made 58 saves in that game.

Higson sits in second place in the Black Division of the Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League with 13 wins, 12 losses and three ties for 29 points - just three back of division-leading Whitecourt Wolverines.

They are home twice this weekend - Saturday at 3 p.m. in Dave Barr Arena against PAC Green and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. vs. Leduc Roughnecks in DB. They finish up the regular season with games Feb. 21st against the Peace River Sabres and Feb. 23rd against the Wolverines on the road.

The other GPAC team in the RRBAAHL, the Dreger Racing Team Storm,  fell twice on the weekend on the road - 7-3 to the Sturgeon Sting on Saturday and 9-2 to the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers on Sunday.

Isaiah Wilson had had two and Ryan St. Germaine a single and Karson Bradford made 45 saves in the first game while on Sunday Kobe Friesen and Noah Grant scored and Keagin Kelln made 39 saves.

DRT is in fifth place in the Black Division with two wins, 25 losses and a tie for five points.

They host the Roughnecks Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Coca-Cola Centre and PAC Green on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in Revolution Arena. They finish up the regular season with games at home against the Wolverines Feb. 22-23.

The Ernie's Sports Experts Storm hit the road for a pair on the weekend falling 4-2 to the Okotoks Oilers on Saturday and 6-4 to the Calgary Flames on Sunday.

In the first game, Ethan Boucher and Jayden Watson had the goals and McCoy Bidewell made 22 saves while on Sunday Codie Saunders, Tye Evans, Hudson Foley and Ty Toews scored and Bidewell made 31 stops.

ESE, who finish up the regular season with a road game against Edmonton SSAC on Saturday, sit in second place in the Dodge Division of the Alberta Midget Hockey League with 35 points and a 17-13-1 record - 21 points back of division-leading St. Albert Raiders.

The Peaceland Directional Drilling Storm fell 7-5 at home to the St. Albert Crusaders in Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League play Saturday.

Tyler Buchberger, Jayden Gordey, Aiden Brown, Denon Bamber and Jacobi Rouleau scored and Owen Taylor made 26 saves for Peaceland.

They sit in third place in the Milltech Group Division with a 13-1-2 record, 16 points back of division-leading NEBC Trackers.

Sunday PDD visit the Wolverines in Whitecourt and then finish up the regular season with games in Spruce Grove against the Oilers (Feb. 22) and Beaumont against the Braves (Feb. 23).

The Boston Pizza Storm of the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League had two close losses on the road on the weekend - 4-2 to Edmonton CAC United Cycle on Saturday and 6-4 to the Leduc Oil Kings on Sunday.

Adam Morrow and Olen Nordhagen scored and Tye Georgeson made 32 saves on Saturday and Levi Pratt, Kyle Maloney, Rhys Doyle and Morrow scored and Georgeson made 33 saves on Sunday.

BP sits in 12th place in the league with a 4-22-7 record, 31 points back of league-leading Fort Saskatchewan Rangers.

They play a pair against the Red Deer Chiefs at home this weekend - Saturday in the County Crosslink Sportsplex in Clairmont at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the same building. They finish up the regular season on the road at the Sherwood Park Squires (Feb. 22) and St. Albert Flyers (Feb. 23).

The Access Dental Storm's season-long road trip continued with a 7-4 loss to the Edmonton SSAC Cameron Homes Saturday and 7-2 defeat at the hands of the Edmonton SSAC Dolce Vita Homes on Sunday.

Daimen Switzer, Dusty Johnson, Ashton Pelletier and Rylee Benson scored and Ethan Barron made 35 saves on Saturday while Canden Radke and Evan Wagner scored and Declan Parsons made 35 saves on Sunday.

Access's Rural & Edmonton Midget 15 AA Hockey League season comes to an end with a game against the Vikings in Camrose on Sunday.

The Golden Arrow Storm continued their impressive season with a pair of wins on the road on the weekend - 4-3 over the Leduc Oil Kings on Saturday and 4-2 over the Sherwood Park Flyers on Sunday.

Spencer Brazel, Spencer Rheaume, Connor Bak and Zach Shantz scored and Nathan Crawley made 39 saves on Saturday while Sunday Kyler Watson, Steel Burke, Reis Nyland and Shantz got the goals and Vaughn Kaliel made 33 saves.

Golden Arrow is in second in the Charger North Division of the Alberta Bantam Hockey League with a 13-10-7 record - just our back of division-leading Lloydminster Bobcats

They finish up their regular season schedule with a pair against the Sherwood Park Squires in Clairmont - Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m.
