In his bio in the Grande Peace Athletic Club program Rhys Doyle was asked what he felt teammates would say about him.
His analysis was: “Skilled forward and leader”.
On the weekend that description was apropos.
His skill and leadership helped the GPAC Boston Pizza Storm battle the visiting Edmonton United Cycle club to a 3-3 draw on Sunday.
Doyle, with 13 following two on Sunday, has the most goals on the team after 24 games. The 5-foot-9, 153-pound Charles Spencer High School student is tied for second in team points with 17.
Sam Antonio also scored for BP on Sunday while Connor Stojan made 25 saves.
On Saturday, Brody West had the lone goal and Tye Georgeson made 46 saves in a 3-1 loss to Edmonton CAC.
BP sits in 12th place in the North Division of the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League with 12 points on three wins and six ties - 25 back of division-leading Sherwood Park Squires.
Next BP action is this weekend when they visit the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers Saturday and the Lloydminster Bobcats on Sunday.
It was a light schedule of regular season games for GPAC teams on the weekend. Only three teams were in action and four games played.
The Peaceland Directional Drilling Storm had the lone GPAC win on the weekend, downing the visiting Lakeland Panthers 4-1 on Sunday.
Mason Kyllo, Spence Lloyd, Tyler Buchberger and Jayden Gordey had the goals and Tyler Burwash made 33 stops.
PDD sits in third place in the Milltech Group Division of the Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League with 12 wins, 10 losses and two ties for 26 points. NEBC Trackers lead the division with 38 points.
The Trackers host PDD on Sunday.
The Dreger Racing Team Storm of the Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League dropped a 6-2 decision to the Peace River Sabres on Sunday.
Isaiah Wilson and Alex Scheck scored the goals and Keagen Kelln made 28 saves in that game.
Saturday Dreger is at the Wainwright Polar Kings and Sunday they visit the Camrose Vikings.
The other ERBAAHL GPAC team, Higson Dental Group Storm, were idle on the weekend but host the Fort McMurray Oil Barons twice this weekend - 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday in the Crosslink County Sportsplex in Clairmont.
Higson is second in the Black Division with 23 points on 10 wins and three ties while Dreger is fifth with two wins and a tie.
The GPAC Bantam AAA Golden Arrow Storm weren’t involved in Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League play on the weekend, but they were busing at a tournament in Edmonton.
They defeated Northeast Wolfpack 3-0 and Sherwood Park Flyers 3-2 and lost 4-1 to Northern Alberta Extreme, 6-3 to BWC Academy and 4-2 to SEAC Tigers.
They have an 11-8-6 record for 28 points and are in second place in the Charger North Division, four points back of division-leading Lloydminster Bobcats.
Saturday, they hit the road for games at Southeast Tigers and Lethbridge Golden Hawks.
The Access Dental Storm had two games schedule on the weekend, but no scores, if they were played, were available.
The Ernie’s Sports Experts Storm of the Alberta Midget Hockey League also had the weekend off. They host the Calgary Flames at 2 p.m. in Clairmont on Saturday.
They are in second in the Dodge Division with a 16-9-1 record, 12 points back of division-leading St. Albert Raiders.
