GPAC WEEKEND WRAP

Nolan Flint had a four-point weekend as the Grande Peace Athletic Club Ernie's Sports Experts Storm split a pair of Alberta Midget Hockey League games.

In the friendly confines of the Crosslink County Sportsplex on Saturday Flint - a 17-year-old Beaverlodge native - had two goals and an assist in a 4-3 win over the Calgary North Stars and then Sunday he added another goal as ESE fell 5-3 to the Kings in Sherwood Park.

Tye Evans and Dayne Tews also scored Saturday and Terris Lappenbush kicked out 30 shots en route to the win.

On Sunday, Dayne Tews led the way with a pair while McCoy Bidwell looked at 27 shots.

ESE continues to chase the St. Albert Raiders atop the Dodge Division. The Storm are second with 18 points while the Raiders lead with 22.

This coming weekend ESE hosts the Leduc Oil Kings at 2 p.m. Saturday and then Edmonton SSAC at 3 p.m. in games in the Coca-Cola Centre.

GPAC's Peaceland Directional Drilling Storm played one Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League on the weekend defeating the Leduc Roughnecks 8-1 on Friday in the Sportsplex.

Mason Kyllo had himself a game in that tilt scoring three times and adding an assist while Aiden Brown had two goals and a helper and Tyler Buchberger, Caile Menard and Spencer Lloyd singles. Ownen Taylor made 28 saves in PDD's victory.

They are tied for first in the Milltech Group Division with the NEBC Tracks with 17 points. This coming Sunday they host the Lloydminster Blazers at 12:30 p.m. in the Coke Can.

The GPAC Boston Pizza Storm played the Calgary Blackhawks in a pair of Alberta Minor Midget Bantam Hockey League games at home on the weekend with two different results.

On Saturday, Joel West, Brody West, Carter Kreller, Devin Johnson and Rhys Doyle had the goals and Tye Georgeson (35 saves) and Connor Stojan (5) in a 5-1 win over the Blackhawks.

On Sunday it was a different story as Calgary won 6-2. Doyle had both GP goals while Stojan made 38 saves.

BP is 10th in their division with eight points. They host the PAC Saints on Saturday (5:30 p.m. Coke Can) and Sunday at 10 a.m. in the same rink.

In another Battle of the Peace in Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League play on Saturday the GPAC Higson Dental team nipped the GPAC  Dreger Racing Team 4-3.

Kyle Lefebvre, John Stinson, Brady Parsons and Dale Horseman had the Higson goals and Shannon Sexton made 25 saves for the winners. Billy Barbarich had two and Ben Hilliar a single for Dreger, who got 52 saves from Karson Bradford.

On Sunday Higson hosted the Whitecourt Wolverines and lost 4-3. Horseman, Nathan Sanregret and Jett Fogle had the GP goals and Logan Sawatzky made 27 saves.

Higson is in second in the Black Divison with 13 points, two back of division-leading Peace River Sabres, while Dreger is fifth with four points.

Both teams are on the road this weekend. Dreger travels to Lakeland and Lloydminster and Higson is in Strathcona and Whitecourt.

Both Access Dental of the Rural & Edmonton Midget 15 AA Hockey League and the Golden Arrow Storm of the Alberta Bantam Hockey League were idle on the weekend.

Access continues its season-long road trip with games in St. Albert and Edmonton while GA host the Leduc Oil Kings on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. in the Sportsplex.
